Strawberry Fields Forever

My Strawberry Fields Bricks Kit arrived in the mail today from Burgundy Buttons!  I am planning on following Amy Smart's Easy Brick Quilt Pattern on Moda Bakeshop's website.

I just love the colors and patterns. It will make a perfect summertime bed quilt.  YUM! They look just like the strawberries I picked in our garden yesterday.

Let's Go For a Walk

Here's my Skye girl waiting patiently for me to finish ironing the fabric for the back of the quilt.
"It's way too hot in here to be ironing."

Next, I have to cut the fabric into 10" strips.

I just love my 3 1/2" ruler with the sticky sandpaper circles on the back.  It never slips when I'm cutting. I can thank my teacher at the Joyful Quilter for this piece of great advice.  Do you remember Mom when I once cut the end of my thumb off with the rotary cutter because my ruler slipped?? OMG!!!

Now I'm cutting the strips into 10" squares.  They will be the back of my fabric "sandwiches" I will start sewing this weekend.

Here are my finished squares...all 42 of them!

Skye is smiling...she is happy I am finished for today!  It has cooled down a lot now outside and the sun is still out.

You know what that means...TIME FOR A WALK!  Let's go Skye! Bye!

For a Sweet "Outdoorsy Girl"

My fabric finally arrived today for my niece's birthday quilt.
Although she likes to pick flowers, wear butterfly wings, and dance in a tutu...I really wouldn't describe her as a "Girlie Girl".

I would say she is more an "Outdoorsy Girl".  She loves to swim and collect bugs.  Frogs are her favorite! I know she will love this pattern!

All of the prints are really cute.  The fabric is "Girlie Girl" by Cheri Strole for Moda. (Oooops! The picture needs to be rotated.)
I am planning on using the blocks from this Layer Cake to make a raw-edge quilt.

I saw a beautiful quilt on Bloom and just loved it!  I am a beginner quilter and this looked like something I could accomplish on my own. Thank you for the great tutorial on your blog.  I can't wait to get started!  Wish me luck!
